PM180 HIGH PERFORMANCE POWER QUALITY ANALYSER

High Performance Power Quality Analyser for Versatile Uses

The PM180 is an advanced multi-microprocessor-based digital instrument that incorporates the capabilities of a power quality analyser, energy meter, fault and data recorder and programmable controller, designed for substation automation.

The PM180 power quality analyser provides three-phase measurements of electrical quantities in power distribution systems, monitoring external events, operating external equipment via relay contacts, fast and long-term on-board recording of measured quantities, faults with currents up to 100A and events, harmonic network analysis and disturbance recording.

The PM180 offers unique flexibility in the design of the expansion cards for “hot-swap” plug-in I/O modules, such as digital inputs, relay outputs, analogue input/outputs, transient recorder module or current digital fault recorder module with up to 40 x In (@ In =5A, Ifault = 200A max.).

It can be used in multiple applications for motor in rush current, fault analysis, enhancement & upgrade to existing electro-mechanical protection relays, check metering, quality of incoming power to site, sequence of event monitoring, harmonic analyser, distance to fault, DC battery monitoring, Bay Controlling Unit and other applications for industrial, commercial and utility use.

An advanced multi-microprocessor-based digital instrument

The PM180 has the capabilities of a power quality analyser, energy meter, fault and data recorder and programmable controller, designed for substation automation.

Unique flexibility in the design of the expansion cards

“Hot-swap” plug-in I/O modules, such as digital inputs, relay outputs, analogue input/outputs, transient recorder module or current digital fault recorder module.

Provides three-phase measurements

Electrical quantities in power distribution systems, monitoring external events, operating external equipment via relay contacts and more.

Robust Construction and Design

The PM180 is designed in a 3U standard form factor, for combined fault-recording, metering and control devices that provide a complete solution for substation and industrial automation.

SATEC PM180 Universal IED

The meter with a multitude of applications

The PM180 power quality analyser provides substation automation with 1-ms resolution for digital inputs; synchronized waveforms from multiple devices in a single plot; exporting waveforms in COMTRADE and PQDIF file formats. Sixteen Fast Data recorders: 1/2-cycle to 2-hour RMS envelopes; up to 20 pre-fault and post-fault cycles; programmable data logs on a periodic basis and on any internal and external trigger; triggering from the Fault recorder, PQ recorder or control setpoints; exporting data trends in PQDIF file format.

The PM180 advanced control capability include Embedded Programmable Controller: 64 control setpoints, OR/AND logic, extensive triggers, programmable thresholds and delays, relay control, event-driven data recording, cross triggering between multiple devices via the Ethernet for synchronous event capture and recording and up to sixteen triggering channels.

The PM180 provides standard communications including RS232, RS485, Ethernet, USB along with modbus, DNP3 and optional IEC 61850 protocol. Fibre Optic, Wi-fi and modem communications can be provided as options.

The PM180 robust construction has been designed in a 3U standard form factor, for combined fault-recording, metering and control devices that provide a complete solution for substation and industrial automation with operational ambient temperature range: –30C to +70C.

Examples of applications include:

  • IED with IEC 61850 protocol
  • Substation and industrial automation controller
  • High accuracy power quality analyser (PQA)
  • Check meter, check meter
  • Fault recorder
  • Protection relay
  • Sequence of Events (SoE)
